How Safe is Your Pet's Water?

Have you ever thought about the quality of water your pet is drinking? For many pet parents, it's simply a routine of re-freshening the bowl or bottle. Sometimes, the container is left for a couple of days, until it needs refilling. What you don't realize though, is that animals are just as susceptible to environmental toxins as we are.

Bacteria removal is essential to providing clean drinking water for dogs, as well as cats, rodents, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. Animals can develop infections that we may not notice right away or attribute to something else than from the water. How often do we just ignore our pets or give them a light admonishment when we catch them drinking from a dripping tap or even our own glass? If you haven't yet insured that you have purified drinking water for yourself, then you're also putting your pets at risk. Water that's old or shared by animals is a good breeding ground for bacteria to thrive, so if your pet is not drinking as much as he or she should, it's possible there's something off. Constipation, fatigue, dental problems, and gastro-intestinal upset are a few ailments that can befall pets, while giardia is a serious illness that can kill, all the more reason to stress the importance of clean water.

For pets such as fish, frogs, and turtles who live in water, chlorine removal and
water purification are just as important.
